Department Overview: The Financial Markets (FM) & Group Treasury (GT) Investing department is responsible for the design, modification and maintenance of the Financial Markets systems used in the Wholesale Banking domain for securities financing, cash equity trading, equity derivatives trading and commodities trading. The business is active in the UK and across Europe, Americas and Asia. The department is situated in London and is part of the Financials Markets & Group Treasury Tribe (in Amsterdam).
Role Overview: As part of the GSF digitalisation strategy, we are building on our existing relationship with SaaS solution supplier (Pirum Systems) to implement a new service supporting front-to-back cross-asset margin, collateral and inventory management and optimization. We are seeking an engineer to join the Global Securities Finance (âGSFâ) IT team within ING Financial Markets.
Candidate Profile Qualification/Education Essential: Bachelorâs degree in computer science or Strong IT background.
Experience/Knowledge Essential:
- 5+ years of experience in an Ops or DevOps role within IT, preferably within Financial Markets.
- Good knowledge of Financial Markets and supporting platforms.
- Performing IT Ops activities for banking applications.
- Supporting vendor-built applications.
- Developing automation scripts.
- Managing IT risk controls for applications in banking.
- Databases (SQL, Sybase) and data structures.
- Working knowledge of operating systems, scheduling and system monitoring.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:
- You will collaborate closely with the project manager and colleagues to implement the new solution.
- You will be a key contributor to the project where you will be expected to:
- Establish technical ownership of the existing Pirum post-trade and collateral management services.
- Collaborate with the vendor and ING architects to define and implement a secure and robust technical architecture for the new service.
- Collaborate with the vendor and other IT colleagues to define and implement messaging for the delivery of inventory data.
- Define and implement the operational control model.
- Be the default point of contact for all IT Ops project deliverables.
- Be the technical point of contact for all IT Risk project deliverables, working in conjunction with specialist IT risk team in Romania.
Your Day-To-Day:
- Work with Asset Owner, IT Custodian and their advisors to ensure projects are completed in timely manner when new risk initiatives are introduced.
- Contribute to change management responsibilities for projects, upgrades and small enhancements for the applications.
- Assist with functional specifications for change requests towards vendors and testing release stories.
- Take ownership of issues and improvements, seeing them through to completion, providing comprehensive handover as required.
- Work in an Agile/Scrum way as part of a squad, following the backlog prioritized by a Product Owner.
- You demo the results of your work to other colleagues and the stakeholders.
- Deal with incidents and requests raised by end users, performing incident and problem management according to INGâs policies.
- Ensure the IT Risk Management tooling is updated with accurate and up-to-date evidence for our applications.
- Contribute to multiple life cycle management tasks of our applications, e.g. patching our servers from development through to production environments.
- Perform the annual disaster recovery, security and BCP testing â completing intakes, coordinating team and sign off.
- Apply continuous delivery and continuous integration best practices.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate independently, proactively and diligently on the assigned tasks to complete them on-time and right-first-time to the satisfaction of the Product Owner and stakeholders.
- Furthermore, you demonstrate a history of continuous improvement, personal development, and outstanding team contribution.
Team specifications: The team is based in London, with colleagues in Poland and Romania providing Platform and IT Risk Management support. The team provides DevOps services for multiple in-house and vendor supplied applications servicing the Securities Finance and Equity Repo trading activities of the GSF business.
