This position plays a role in supporting the Financial Markets (FM) Trading business across strategic, governance, and operational domains. The role contributes to the effective execution of the Product Approval and Review Process (PARP), engages in key new‑product initiatives, and provides support to the Head of Financial Markets Trading Technology and Strategy as well as the broader FM Trading management team. It further entails representing FM in cross‑functional committees, coordinating policy‑related initiatives, and contributing to business planning, financial oversight, and organisational management activities. The role requires strong analytical capability, sound judgement in governance matters, and the ability to operate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups in a dynamic environment.
Core Tasks & Material Responsibilities
- Strategy: Act as a key Gatekeeper for the Product Approval and Review Process (PARP), ensuring that approval requirements are met, documented, and escalated appropriately. Oversee global and local initiation approvals and chair Product Approval Committee (PAC) meetings when required. Monitor adherence to PARP governance and seek approval for any deviations to implementation guidelines. Maintain authority to determine in‑scope and out‑of‑scope stakeholders. Serve as an active member of all relevant Product Approval Committees (PACs). Represent FM Trading in cross‑functional committees and working groups. Support the FM Trading team with strategic presentations, dashboards, and business management activities (both BAU and ad hoc).
- Budgets & Financial Planning: Assist in the MTP process. Contribute to the KPI framework across financial and non‑financial metrics. Track progress on key strategic initiatives. Provide financial performance updates (revenue, cost, RoE) as needed.
- Governance: Represent FM in firm‑wide initiatives related to new or updated policies. Assist in departmental communications on behalf of the FM Trading Management Team.
- Human Resources: Support the monitoring and coordination of mid‑year and year‑end performance reviews. Act as the contact point for FM Trading on HR‑related matters, including talent management and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DI&B) initiatives.
- Risk & Control: Promote and maintain Compliance best practices and contribute to a strong control environment. Collaborate with internal audit teams and desk heads to ensure timely information delivery and remediation of open audit points. Work with Business Continuity Planning teams to ensure proper continuity provisions are in place, regularly reviewed, and updated.
Qualification / Education
- Essential: A university degree (2:1 or higher) in a numerate field (a science, economics, mathematics, or engineering etc.);
- Desirable: Further education in a numerate field, MSc/MS.
Experience / Knowledge
- 5+ years’ banking experience within relevant departments.
- Experience in Financial Markets, product governance, or business management.
- A good product knowledge of banking activities and financial markets products.
- Able to interpret and understand a Financial Markets business.
Personal Competencies
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Ability to act with authority, challenge stakeholders, and manage governance processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as able to deal with conflict.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced environment.
