Department Overview

The Commodities Trading Department is a global team, offering tailored commodity hedging and risk management solutions across the ING client base. Predominantly servicing corporate clients and commodity producers around the world, the team offers round-the-clock coverage, and global execution capabilities, according to the ING orange code.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role
  • Actively follow developments in (paper) commodity markets;
  • Continuously check and update relevant market parameters;
  • Provide cross commodity cover to other traders in the desk, namely indicative and firm quotes for clients;
  • Execute orders across multiple commodity products;
  • Manage risk position of the desk within the applicable limits and desk risk tolerance;
  • Help contribute towards desk strategy by identifying market opportunities;
  • Ad hoc analysis and contribution towards ongoing projects for the desk;
  • Contribute to development of tools & automation to streamline desk processes;
  • 100% observance of all FCA requirements, industry conduct rules, ING Compliance standards, exchanges’ rules & regulations.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualification/Education
    • Educated to Degree level in either Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Statistics.
  • Experience/Knowledge
    • Essential:
    • A minimum of 2 years experience working in European natural gas and/or power
    • Knowledge of European energy fundamentals
    • Programming skills (Python, Excel VBA, SQL)
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excell
    • Basic knowledge of option pricing, trading and risk management
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working in a bank
    • Knowledge of regulatory changes and impact on trading activities
