Department Overview

ING’s global Loan Distribution Group platform consists of c.65 professionals located in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. We are a market leader in Europe, consistently ranked in the top 5 Bookrunners in EMEA, no.1 in Benelux and no.1 in CEE.

The EMEA Corporates & FI\'s team is responsible for the origination, structuring, syndication and execution of syndicated loans for investment grade and non-investment grade corporate borrowers in EMEA. We regularly act as coordinating and/or underwriting bank and provide advice and market expertise to ING’s clients and relevant departments within ING. The team is split between London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

The Associate role is ideal for a candidate who has 3-5 years of syndication or other relevant banking experience. The time you spend with us will provide you with a solid grounding in many core aspects of banking, resulting in a strong and transferable skill set. Over time you will have a chance to expand your responsibilities, increase your exposure to clients and develop into a fully-fledged loan market professional. Due to the nature of our business, the role also provides excellent networking opportunities, both within ING and the wider market.

Candidate Profile

Qualification/Education

  • Educated to degree level or above

Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

  • Associate level: minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • High-level literacy in English
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • Fluency in French would be a particular advantage; other European languages could be helpful
  • Some experience of corporate credit analysis

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

You will support senior members of the EMEA team in all aspects of their work, including

  • Drafting of pitch books
  • Pricing and structuring of transactions
  • Generating marketing ideas relevant to our clients
  • Reviewing documentation (term sheets, mandate letters, facility agreements)
  • Preparing materials to support internal credit processes for our transactions
  • Keeping abreast of relevant developments in market sentiment, bank behaviour, and the legal and regulatory landscape applicable to our business
  • Liaising closely with colleagues in Distribution Sales, Client Coverage, Lending, Sustainable Finance, Corporate Finance, Debt Capital Markets and other departments to deliver integrated solutions to clients our clients
  • Updating and maintaining our databases, filing systems and presentation templates
  • Coming up with ideas and innovations to improve the efficiency of the team and the quality of our client offering
