We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Transaction Management (TM) team as Lead for the Project Finance pillar, which encompasses Infrastructure, TMT, and Energy sectors. This is a senior position within the front office, dedicated to lending activities. As the team lead, you will hold primary responsibility for overseeing a team and managing several critical processes associated with lending transactions. Acting as a player-coach, you will collaborate with bankers of varying experience levels who are responsible for executing new lending transactions. Additionally, you will work closely with client relationship managers and sector experts to originate new lending opportunities. This role presents an excellent prospect for an experienced lending or sector banker seeking to move into team management and contribute to the growth of ING’s UK business.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:
- The Transaction Management team will be involved in every new lending transaction, working closely with the client relationship managers and/or the Deal Principals.
- The TM PF lead will take responsibility for the oversight of many of the key processes, which include:
- Financial modelling with sensitivity analysis and validation of key assumptions
- Running internal models including risk ratings and loan pricing, and interfacing with risk management to establish the appropriate internal risk rating and risk appetite
- Supporting commercial approval processes (Greenlight committee)
- Preparing and efficiently processing of credit approval packages including annexes and all requisite attachments
- Interfacing with loan operations and limit owners
- Ensuring compliance with internal policies
- The responsibility for deal closing including final CPs and obtaining the final loan documents
- Preparation of marketing materials
- Compiling business comparables, and conducting analysis on debt structures, performance metrics, and debt pricing
- Supporting the deal principal in term sheet negotiations
- Analysis of different transaction structures and providing recommendations
- Attending meetings and calls with clients including transaction-related due diligence
- Managing special projects as directed by TM Management
- Working with and coaching junior colleagues by supporting them in their personal and professional development.
Qualification/Education
- Essential: University level education in finance/economics/accounting/management/engineering (or similar);
- Desirable: CFA
Experience/Knowledge
- Essential: 10+ years of relevant banking experience at a leading financial institution
- Desirable: Prior experience in project finance across infra, TMT, and Energy sectors
Personal Competencies
- Strong credit skills.
- Experience in negotiating loan documentation
- Ability to work effectively across functions and demonstrated capabilities as a player-coach
- Strong interest and prior experience in wholesale banking and in at least one of the relevant sectors
- Openness to learning about new industry sectors
- Experience with both origination and execution of project finance loans
- Understanding of debt capital markets
- Commitment and dedication to continuously improving team performance and methods of working
- Possession of a global mindset
- Authentic and confident presentation and communication skills

- Previous team management experience is desirable but not strictly required.
