OverviewWe\âre on the lookout for a talented Senior PHP Developer to join a forward-thinking digital team in Birmingham. This is a handsâon role where you\âll work across a modern web stack to deliver performant, scalable applications that support business growth.
You\âll take an active role in shaping the technical direction, working closely with product and design teams to deliver clean, maintainable, and wellâtested code. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems and is passionate about building highâquality digital solutions.
What You\âll Do
Design, build, and maintain web applications using modern PHP frameworks.
Develop within LAMP environments.
Write highâquality, testable code and contribute to automated testing strategies (e.g. PHPUnit).
Manage and optimise cloudâhosted Linux servers and MySQL databases, ideally within AWS.
Build and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments.
Work collaboratively within an Agile team, using tools such as Jira for sprint management.
Ensure reliability, security, and performance across all applications.
Your Experience
Extensive commercial experience in PHP development.
Strong proficiency with Laravel and modern web frameworks.
Handsâon experience with cloudâbased Linux systems and MySQL database administration.
Confident in version control (Git) and automated deployment practices.
Comfortable working independently and owning project deliverables.
Knowledge of testing frameworks and best practices in TDD.
Bonus Skills
Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional PHP or MySQL certifications (Zend, PHP Development, etc.).
Familiarity with scalable architecture design and microservices principles.
