About the Role
We're looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to take ownership of the design, delivery, and optimisation of our enterprise cloud hosting platforms. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, ensuring systems remain secure, scalable, and resilient. You'll drive platform transformation projects, champion automation, mentor engineers, and engage with stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that underpin business-critical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud platforms across Azure & GCP
- Build and optimise internal platforms to support development teams
- Automate provisioning, scaling, and configuration management
- Lead migration and modernisation projects from inception to delivery
- Drive best practices in cloud architecture, DevOps, and automation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on greenfield solutions
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis with preventative action
- Mentor engineers and act as a trusted technical authority
- Ensure cost efficiency, security, and performance across platforms
Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience as a Senior/Lead Cloud or Platform Engineer
- Hands-on expertise with Azure and Google Cloud Platform
- Strong background with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates, etc.)
- Proven track record with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)
- Scripting and automation (Python, Shell, Perl, or similar)
- Knowledge of data centre ops, networking, IT security, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Agile delivery experience
Desirable Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Oracle application/database experience
- Familiarity with Unix/Solaris environments
- Service mesh & API gateway knowledge (Istio, Linkerd)
- Multi-cloud or hybrid infrastructure exposure
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices and compliance
