Lead Security Engineer - Southampton (Hybrid) - £70,000 - £80,000

Are you an experienced SOC professional looking to take the next step into a technical leadership role?

We're partnering with a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) in Southampton that is looking for an experienced Lead Security Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands‑on technical expertise with people leadership, helping to shape and develop a modern, high-performing SOC.

You’ll lead a team of talented analysts, drive continuous improvement, own the security technology stack, and play a key role in delivering exceptional cyber security services to customers.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Hands‑on experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR and modern security tooling.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex security incidents.
  • Drive incident response, investigations and post-incident reviews.
  • Own and enhance the SOC tooling environment, including SIEM, SOAR and EDR platforms.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to improve automation and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new customers, including log ingestion, alert tuning and use case development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase SOC maturity and capability.
  • Stay ahead of emerging cyber threats and implement best practice security operations.
  • Strong knowledge of incident response, threat detection and security monitoring.
  • Excellent understanding of networking, cyber security principles and threat intelligence.
  • Experience working within an MSSP or customer-facing environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Other cloud-native SIEM platforms.
  • Microsoft Defender
  • MITRE framework.
  • Wider Security technical skilks
