Messaging Engineer x2 – DV Cleared – Gloucestershire, London or Manchester – £70,000 - £80,000 + car allowance

We're looking for a Lead Messaging Engineer to play a key role in designing, delivering and supporting secure communication platforms that underpin critical operations.

Working within a collaborative and highly governed technical team, you'll take ownership of the full lifecycle of enterprise messaging solutions—from design and implementation through to deployment, support and continual improvement.

Due to the secure nature of the work, this role is office‑based in Gloucestershire.

The Role

As a Lead Messaging Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across the design, implementation and support of secure messaging and collaboration technologies.

You'll help ensure critical platforms remain secure, resilient and compliant while driving continuous improvements across the messaging estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure and deploy secure, on‑premise messaging and collaboration platforms.
  • Manage and maintain critical messaging infrastructure, ensuring high availability, resilience and compliance with strict service level agreements.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis and resolution across messaging technologies and supporting infrastructure.
  • Lead or contribute to technical delivery using recognised project methodologies within a controlled and governed environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service reliability, supportability and operational efficiency.
  • Share technical expertise across the team, supporting mentoring, knowledge sharing and capability development.

Skills

  • Strong experience administering and supporting Microsoft Exchange On‑Premise environments, with a solid understanding of modern messaging technologies and strategy.
  • Hands‑on experience with Share Point.
  • Extensive experience supporting Teams within enterprise environments.
  • Strong infrastructure knowledge, including administration, troubleshooting, clustering and hardware evaluation.
  • Proven experience working within structured governance frameworks and delivering against demanding service level agreements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience supporting messaging systems, particularly within military, defence or other highly secure environments.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification, or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Experience producing high‑quality technical documentation, including operational procedures and end‑user guidance.
  • Security Clearance

This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance.
