Lead Dev Ops & Automation Engineer – DV Cleared - £65,000 - £80,000 + car allowance – Gloucestershire, London or Manchester
We’re looking for a Lead Dev Ops & Automation Engineer to take ownership of our Dev Ops and automation capability.
This is an opportunity to shape engineering best practice, lead talented engineers, and deliver innovative automation solutions that improve the way technology is designed, deployed and managed.
As the Lead Dev Ops & Automation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing and embedding Dev Ops practices while leading a team responsible for delivering automation and infrastructure solutions.
You’ll work across complex, highly secure environments, champion Infrastructure as Code, and support both technical delivery and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Dev Ops Engineers, supporting their technical growth and career development.
- Drive the adoption of Dev Ops principles, automation, and modern engineering practices.
- Design and implement automation solutions across enterprise infrastructure.
- Develop services, scripts, and configurations to support an Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) strategy.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and troubleshooting throughout project lifecycles.
- Support pre‑sales activities by helping define technical solutions and identifying opportunities to address customer challenges.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, and operational efficiency.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading or mentoring Dev Ops or infrastructure engineering teams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, automation pipelines, and systems integration.
- Experience delivering automation initiatives from concept through to implementation.
- Production experience supporting Microsoft technologies, with exposure to Linux, within secure, highly available enterprise environments.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience scripting in languages such as Power Shell, Python, and Bash.
- A proactive approach to identifying risks, improving processes, and driving innovation.
- Experience designing complex infrastructure solutions and producing high‑quality technical documentation.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git Lab.
- Security Clearance
This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance.
