We are seeking a reliable and proactive Stores Person to support the efficient operation of our warehouse and inventory functions. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching stock, while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting general stock control activities. You will help ensure materials and equipment are handled safely, stored correctly, and readily available to meet operational requirements. As required, you will also undertake delivery and collection duties, transporting stock and materials to and from field locations. The role involves regular interaction with customer staff and IGL employees across various departments, so strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to build positive working relationships are essential. This is a hands-on position suited to an organized individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of service, accuracy, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely load, transport, and deliver materials to customer and construction sites in compliance with all road traffic legislation and company procedures.
- Collect returns, surplus materials, and equipment from sites, ensuring accurate records and documentation are maintained.
- Verify deliveries and collections to ensure orders are complete, accurate, and meet customer requirements.
- Photograph delivered and collected materials as required and maintain clear records using company systems, paperwork, and applications.
- Conduct daily vehicle and trailer inspections, reporting any faults, damage, or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain vehicles, trailers, and warehouse equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
- Adhere to all site-specific regulations, health and safety requirements, and company policies at all times.
- Receive, store, pick, pack, and dispatch stock accurately and efficiently to support operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock records, monitor inventory levels, and report stock discrepancies or shortages.
- Ensure warehouse stock locations are organised and materials are stored safely and correctly.
- Keep the warehouse and work areas clean, tidy, and well organised to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with customers, drivers, and internal teams, participating in team meetings and supporting warehouse operations as required.
What you’ll need:
- A valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle being driven.
- B+E entitlement on your driving licence (essential).
- Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, delivery, or logistics environment.
- Good understanding of safe loading, unloading, and manual handling practices.
- Ability to accurately pick, pack, and manage stock while maintaining inventory records.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements, including site and road safety regulations.
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail when completing deliveries, collections, and related documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
