This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the water industry's most critical challenges while developing your expertise across data, network operations, and strategic resolution planning. IGL is part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long-term development and career progression.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Team Leader to take ownership of the pre-award and pre-construction lifecycle of projects. This is a key leadership role within our Technical team, acting as the main point of contact for Business Development Managers and working closely with internal teams and external clients to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard. You will also be responsible for leading and developing a small team of Coordinators, driving performance, supporting professional development, and ensuring projects are managed efficiently from initial enquiry through to handover.

The Role

  • Lead, mentor, and manage Technical Coordinators, supporting performance and development
  • Oversee pre-award and pre-construction activities, ensuring accurate and timely ITQs are submitted in line with SLAs
  • Allocate and manage weekly workloads to ensure projects are delivered efficiently
  • Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs and work-in-progress metrics
  • Provide training and guidance to enable team members to manage projects independently
  • Support technical and commercial decision-making, including project variations
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Support design submissions and ensure accurate data entry across internal systems
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing processes and workflows
  • Maintain accurate project records, including H&S documentation and handover packs
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership

What you’ll need

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Pre-Award / Pre-Construction
  • Experience managing or supporting a technical or coordination team
  • Strong understanding of project and technical processes with high attention to detail
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel essential)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
