We are partnering with a global bank to support the hire of an Associate, as part of the continued growth of its Project Finance advisory platform in London. The team is active across infrastructure and energy-related sectors, including power and renewables, transportation, water, waste, digital infrastructure and social PPPs, with transactions spanning the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The London-based team plays a central role in the bank’s international project finance strategy and has an established track record across both advisory and lending mandates.
The Opportunity
You will support project finance advisory mandates, with a primary focus on financial modelling, while also assisting with the execution of lending transactions across multiple sectors. The role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from origination and bid support through to execution and financial close. You will work closely with senior team members, clients, lenders and external advisors on live transactions. This is a strong opportunity to join a lean, execution-focused project finance team, offering early responsibility, technical depth and long-term development within the project finance space.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain complex financial models for project and structured finance transactions
- Develop base case cash flow models and perform sensitivity analysis
- Respond to day-to-day financial modelling queries from clients and lending banks
- Attend client and lender meetings where required
- Support the preparation of proposals for new transactions, extensions, amendments and waivers
- Assist with the preparation of teasers and information memoranda for potential lenders
- Support the development of marketing pitches, financial analysis and market research
- Assist with the review and negotiation of bid documentation and risk allocation, including concession agreements and other key contracts
- Review project documentation and due diligence materials to identify key risks and value drivers
- Support deal structuring, due diligence coordination and engagement with external advisors
Candidate Profile
- Strong academic background with excellent analytical capability
- 2+ years’ experience in project finance or financial modelling within a bank, advisory/modelling boutique or Big 4/similar professional services firm
- Strong Excel-based financial modelling skills
- Understanding of project finance structures and processes
- Exposure to infrastructure, energy or PPP transactions is beneficial
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented, detail-focused, and comfortable working across multiple workstreams
- Clear interest in building a career in project finance
