We are partnering with a specialist energy transition investment fund based in Oxford who is looking to grow the team with an Investment Associate to join its investment team. The firm invests across private equity, infrastructure and clean technology strategies, with a mandate centred on the energy transition. This is a broad role within a lean team with direct exposure to live transactions, portfolio company management teams, co-investors and advisers. You will be a core member of the investment team, contributing across the full deal lifecycle - from evaluation and execution through to portfolio management and divestment. The role carries genuine responsibility and is suited to someone who wants to be in the room, not just supporting from the side lines.
The Role:
- Financial modelling across DCF, project finance, LBO and scenario analysis - building from scratch and stress-testing third-party models
- Preparing investment memos, IC presentations and research materials for senior decision-makers
- Supporting due diligence across financial, commercial, technical and legal workstreams, and managing external adviser relationships
- Deal structuring and execution support - term sheets, shareholder agreements, investment documentation
- Ongoing portfolio monitoring including Board attendance, financial performance tracking and valuation maintenance
- Supporting LP reporting, quarterly updates and investor communications
The Candidate:
- Strong academic background with a degree from a leading university
- 4+ years of experience in private equity, infrastructure investment, investment banking, project finance, consulting, with direct deal exposure.
- Demonstrable financial modelling capability across multiple deal types
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks (SFDR, TCFD) and responsible investment principles desirable
- Genuine interest in the energy transition - commercially and intellectually
- Additional European language skills are advantageous
