Senior Quantity Surveyor – NEC Civil Engineering/ HV/ Utilities (Contractor-Facing Role)

Overview
A specialist consultancy supporting Tier 1 contractors on major UK infrastructure schemes is seeking an experienced Contract Quantity Surveyor with strong contractor-side commercial delivery experience. You will operate as part of the consultancy team while being embedded within contractor delivery teams, providing immediate commercial support on a major infrastructure role focussed on HV cabling and a sub station.
This contract is ideal for a proactive, commercially aware QS who can operate autonomously within fast-paced NEC project environments.
Contract Scope / Services Required
The appointed contractor will deliver commercial support across live NEC3/NEC4 works packages, ensuring robust change management, accurate reporting, and effective commercial governance.
Key Deliverables
- Assess and manage NEC3/NEC4 compensation events, early warnings, risk allowances, and all supporting documentation.
- Work closely with planning teams (Primavera P6) to evaluate programme impacts and delay analyses.
- Support subcontract procurement and engagement, validating entitlement and reviewing change submissions.
- Maintain cost forecasts, change registers, and cash-flow models.
- Provide commercial guidance to assist with strategy development, dispute avoidance, and early commercial resolution.
Required Experience & Competencies
- Strong, demonstrated experience administering NEC contracts.
- Background in Civil Engineering projects, ideally HV or utilities expertise.
- Proven contractor-side commercial delivery (directly or via consultancy).
- Understanding of planning outputs and interfaces, including Primavera P6.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills within live delivery environments.
