An independent and well-regarded consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Manager to lead project controls activities on one of the country's largest and most complex data centre programmes. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced project controls professional who can drive performance, provide assurance, and establish robust controls frameworks across a large-scale, multi-disciplinary project environment.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and client leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring programme objectives are achieved through effective planning, cost management, risk management, and performance reporting.
The Role
As Senior Project Controls Manager/ PMO Lead, you will be responsible for leading the project controls function, ensuring the successful integration of planning, cost, risk, change, and performance management activities. You will provide leadership to project controls teams, establish best-practice processes, and deliver the insight required to support critical programme decisions at both project and executive level.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of integrated project controls across major programmes
- Establish and maintain effective cost, schedule, risk, and change management processes
- Develop programme-wide reporting frameworks and performance management systems
- Provide strategic insight and assurance to senior stakeholders and programme leadership
- Drive earned value management and performance measurement activities
- Lead, mentor, and develop project controls teams across multiple workstreams
- Ensure compliance with contractual, governance, and reporting requirements
- Work closely with planning, commercial, project management, and delivery teams to support successful programme outcomes
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and project controls maturity enhancement
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience leading project controls functions on major data centre projects or programmes
- Strong background across planning, cost management, risk, change control, and performance reporting
- Experience operating within complex infrastructure, engineering, construction, or major programme environments
- Strong understanding of NEC contract frameworks and programme governance
- Proficiency with project controls tools including Primavera P6, with experience of reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and client leadership teams
- Previous experience managing and developing high-performing project controls teams
