A leading consultancy delivering planning and project controls expertise across critical UK infrastructure programmes is looking to recruit Planning Engineers at all levels to support the delivery of a major long-term programme. The Role

As a Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analysing project schedules that support programme delivery from inception through to completion. Working closely with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and client stakeholders, you will provide planning expertise, programme insight, and performance analysis to ensure projects remain aligned with key milestones, objectives, and delivery strategies. This role offers exposure to large-scale defence programmes and provides an excellent platform for professional growth within a specialist planning and project controls environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard planning tools
  • Support programme delivery teams with planning, forecasting, and schedule management activities
  • Undertake critical path analysis and identify programme risks, constraints, and opportunities
  • Produce programme reporting and planning outputs for internal and client stakeholders
  • Monitor project progress and assess schedule performance against key milestones
  • Support risk workshops, change management processes, and project controls activities
  • Ensure programme schedules comply with contractual and governance requirements, including NEC frameworks
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams to drive successful programme outcomes

About You

We are interested in speaking with planners from intermediate through to senior level who have experience working within complex project environments. You may have:

  • Experience as a Planning Engineer, Project Planner, or Project Controls Planner
  • Exposure to defence, engineering, construction, manufacturing, aerospace, or major project environments
  • Strong understanding of planning principles and programme management methodologies
  • Experience working with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent planning software
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and programme delivery frameworks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to analyse programme data and provide meaningful planning insight
