We are supporting a major infrastructure programme delivering critical upgrades to the UK’s electricity network as part of The Great Grid Upgrade. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to support high-value transmission projects in the Heathrow / West London area. This role is also open to candidates operating at Planning Manager level.
This is a key role working across major high voltage (HV) infrastructure projects, supporting delivery from early design through to construction.
You will be involved in:
- Substation development (132kV / 275kV / 400kV)
- Overhead line (OHL) upgrades
- Switchgear and cabling works
- Full lifecycle planning (design, tender, construction)
Projects are delivered in partnership with organisations including:
- National Grid
- Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks
- Tier 1 contractors
The Role
- Lead and manage project planning activities across multiple workstreams
- Develop and maintain detailed programmes using Primavera P6 or equivalent
- Interface with engineering, commercial and delivery teams
- Provide planning leadership across design, procurement and construction phases
- Support reporting, risk analysis and programme optimisation
Package
- Permanent: £90,000 – £120,000 depending upon experience
- Contract: Competitive day rate
- Contractors are welcome to apply. The role is currently expected to fall Inside IR35, with a formal determination in progress and potential for Outside IR35 status subject to final assessment.
Working Pattern
- Hybrid working
- Typically 3 days on site in the Heathrow area
- Remaining days remote
- Easily commutable from West London, Surrey, Berkshire and surrounding areas
About You
- Proven experience in HV / Transmission and Distribution projects
- Background in substations, overhead lines, or grid infrastructure
- Strong planning capability using Primavera P6 or similar
- Able to manage programmes and engage with senior stakeholders
