Job Purpose As a Fund Controller, you will take primary responsibility for the reporting, financial control and operations of InfraRed’s unlisted Core funds, totalling c.£1.6bn of NAV. Other responsibilities include financial and treasury management, driving of value-add initiatives on investments and implementation support on transaction activities. The candidate will also assist with disposals and investor reporting, drafting key sections of quarterly investor reports. Day-to-day financial management for each of the funds is outsourced to a variety of third-party providers, but requires the direct support and coordinating of the finance team. You will work closely with the other members of the Core Infrastructure team and broader InfraRed team, including the Portfolio Management, Investment, Tax and other central functions teams. Key Job Responsibilities:
- Preparation of fund quarterly investor and internal reports, annual statutory accounts, supporting semi-annual valuation process and monitoring investor returns (routine and ad hoc) with the support of third-party administrators.
- Responsibility for the external audit process.
- Coordinate the execution of foreign exchange trades, investor drawdowns and distributions, as well as subscriptions to and distributions from investments.
- Ensuring efficient administration, funding and maintenance of holding structures through the life of the investments and liaising with overseas administrators where applicable.
- Effective management of outsourced fund administrators (accounting, payments etc.) ensuring all deliverables are met to agreed timelines.
- Providing operational and transaction support to investment activities, monitoring portfolio construction on an ongoing basis.
- Identification and management of value enhancements and asset management initiatives related to investments in the portfolio in conjunction with the Investment team.
- Support the Portfolio Manager around key internal forums, such as the Investment Committee.
- Track record maintenance for Capital Formation Team.
- Support of initiatives across Infrastructure including ad hoc transaction work.
- Supporting the tax and regulatory requirements of the funds.
- Effective management of key stakeholders, notably auditors and fund administrators.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A qualified accountant with ca. 5+ years PQE (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc) and previous proven experience of fund control in infrastructure, private equity or other alternative asset class.
- Strong technical knowledge of fund accounting, fund reporting (IFRS), financial management (including foreign exchange hedging), managing transactions and providing transaction support.
- A good communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills who can engage with asset management, investment colleagues and third-party service providers to drive outcomes.
- Service-focused and comfortable dealing with investors, internal teams and external auditors/bankers.
- Tenacity, commercial awareness, highly organised with good project management skills and ability to multi-task in a time-pressured environment.
- Demonstrated commercial experience in negotiations with third parties.
- Proficiency in Excel and working with detailed Excel project finance models.
- Knowledge of NetSuite is beneficial.
