About this opportunity
As an ICT Database Administrator at Westmorland and Furness Council, you will support and drive developments for our business systems and environments. You will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, optimisation, upgrading and monitoring of database systems within agreed standards and legislative frameworks. In this dynamic role you will implement best practices, develop strong relationships with various teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Support, develop, maintain, upgrade, optimise and monitor our database platforms.
- Ensure delivery of highly available business applications across the organisation.
- Align database platforms and systems with the strategic goals of Westmorland and Furness Council.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with various teams.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
We are looking for a skilled professional with experience in database administration, strong technical skills and a track record of enhancing business efficiency and high‑quality user experience. Qualifications should include knowledge of database design, performance tuning, security, and backup/recovery. Experience in a local government or similar environment is desirable.
