Workday Finance Lead Consultant is expected to be instrumental in leveraging the Workday Financial Management system to drive efficient and accurate financial operations. You will collaborate closely with finance, accounting, IT, and other cross‑functional teams to optimize our Workday financial solutions, ensure data integrity, and provide actionable financial insights.
As the Lead Consultant, you will anchor the engagement effort for assignments, guiding the team from business process consulting through solution design, development, and deployment. You will be pivotal to problem definition, discovery of the overall solution, and guide teams on project processes and deliverables. As a thought leader, you will advise on architecture and design reviews, anchor business pursuit initiatives, client training, and build in‑house capability. Your work will shape value‑adding consulting solutions that enable clients to meet evolving global needs.
Responsibilities
- Workday System Administration & Configuration: Manage, configure, and maintain Workday Financial Management modules (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Business Assets, Capital Projects, Procurement, Expenses, Projects, Adaptive Planning, Accounting Center, Prism, Advanced Close and Consolidation). Design, build, and test configurations, business processes, calculated fields, and conditional routing. Analyze bi‑annual release notes, assess impact, and implement new functionalities. Troubleshoot system issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and liaise with Workday Support and IT.
- Financial Process Optimization & Support: Provide end‑user support, assist with inquiries, requests, and training. Gather business requirements, translate them into functional specifications, identify opportunities for workflow automation, conduct testing, develop functional test plans, and coordinate UAT. Create and maintain training materials and documentation.
- Reporting, Analytics & Data Integrity: Develop and maintain custom financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs. Conduct financial data analysis to identify trends and anomalies, provide data‑driven insights, and lead data audits and quality measures. Collaborate with IT to align systems with business requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Project Management & Collaboration (for Lead roles): Participate in implementation and enhancement projects, provide financial expertise, lead design sessions, guide clients in best practices, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams (HR, IT Security, Risk Management, Integrations). Manage project scope, client expectations, contribute to planning and delivery, and mentor junior team members.
Required
- Minimum 9 years of experience as a Workday/ERP Financial Consultant.
Preferred
- Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and financial management practices.
- Proven ability to manage and optimize ERP systems, specifically Workday.
- Workday Financials certification (Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Strategic Sourcing, Customer Contracts, Projects) highly desired.
- Proficiency in financial data analysis and the ability to interpret complex data to generate insights.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies (for Lead/Consultant roles).
- Knowledge of Workday Security is a plus.
