Overview: The Infrastructure Architect will design, optimize, and manage enterprise IT infrastructure across Compute (AIX/Linux, Windows/VMware), Storage, and Network domains with a strong focus on capacity planning, performance engineering, and operational resilience. The role supports large-scale enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across all infrastructure layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Architecture & Design: Define and maintain end-to-end architecture across compute, storage, and network; provide scalable, resilient, and secure platform solutions; and ensure alignment with enterprise standards and configuration management practices.
- Capacity Planning & Management: Forecast capacity for compute, storage, and network; analyze trends for CPU, memory, storage IO, and network utilization; recommend and implement capacity optimization; collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams.
- Performance Engineering & Optimization: Lead performance analysis and tuning across AIX/Linux/Windows and VMware environments; identify bottlenecks in CPU, memory, disk IO, and network throughput; drive proactive performance improvement initiatives.
- Compute Platform Leadership: Oversee AIX (POWER, LPAR, PowerVC), Windows Server & Active Directory, and VMware infrastructure lifecycle; support OS monitoring, patching, lifecycle management, VM provisioning, decommissioning, and performance tuning.
- Storage & Backup Architecture: Design and manage SAN/NAS storage environments; optimize storage performance (IOPS, throughput, latency); lead backup/recovery strategy and disaster recovery alignment.
- Network Architecture & Integration: Define and review data-center networking, routing/switching, and connectivity between compute, storage, and application layers; work closely with network architects for performance troubleshooting.
- Monitoring, Automation & Reliability: Implement and enhance monitoring solutions for infrastructure health; drive automation for provisioning, capacity reporting, and performance tuning; improve observability across the infrastructure stack.
- Incident, Problem & Change Management: Lead resolution of complex L2/L3 infrastructure issues; conduct root cause analysis; work within ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change).
- Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Design DR/HA solutions for critical infrastructure; validate DR drills and ensure readiness for failover scenarios.
Required Skills & Experience
- Compute: IBM AIX (LPAR, Power systems, PowerVC), Linux (RHEL), Windows Server & AD.
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS.
- Storage & Backup: SAN/NAS, replication, backup solutions.
- Networking: LAN/WAN, routing/switching, DC networking.
- Monitoring & Tools: Infrastructure monitoring, alerting tools, performance tools.
- Functional Expertise: Capacity planning & trending, performance analysis & tuning, infrastructure optimization, ITIL process awareness.
- Experience: 10–15+ years in infrastructure architecture/engineering within large enterprise, multi-DC, hybrid environments.
- Soft Skills: Strong stakeholder management across storage, network, and apps teams; excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to lead design discussions and technical governance.
