We’re supporting a major UK insurer to hire a Senior Java Backend Contractor to strengthen a team building business-critical internal platforms used every day across the organisation.
You’ll join a modern engineering setup delivering and running Spring Boot APIs that power agent tooling and integrations. This is a hands-on role where quality matters: clean code, solid tests, reliable releases — and the confidence to jump into production debugging when needed.
- Building, enhancing and maintaining Java/Spring Boot REST APIs
- Writing well-tested code (unit tests as standard)
- Helping others succeed through coaching/mentoring and knowledge sharing
Strong commercial experience with Java + Spring Boot
Solid SQL and relational database experience
Azure DevOps and YAML pipelines
Cucumber/Gherkin, Azure Data Factory, or GenAI exposure
