Overview
In this role, you will join the Innovation team to develop and validate LC-MS–based analytical methods, delivering innovative solutions across the business. You will design extraction approaches, optimize instruments, and interpret complex data to guide decisions. The position combines method development with cross-functional collaboration to advance analytical capabilities. You will contribute to quality and compliance within ISO 17025 frameworks while communicating findings to internal and external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to shape analytical capabilities in a market-leading testing laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise, and validate analytical methods with LC-MS workflows
- Design and develop extraction approaches and sample preparation techniques
- Configure, operate, troubleshoot, and optimise LC-MS instrumentation
- Analyse and interpret complex analytical data to identify trends and support decisions
- Support innovation projects across the business to improve analytical capabilities
- Prioritise multiple projects and deliver high-quality outputs within timelines
- Produce technical reports, validation summaries, and project updates
- Present findings to internal teams and external customers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and working methods
- Maintain records and ensure work complies with ISO 17025 requirements
Key requirements
- Degree in Chemistry or a relevant scientific field
- Experience in busy analytical/commercial laboratory environments
- Strong practical experience with LC-MS including method development, optimisation, troubleshooting, and validation
- Experience developing extraction methods and sample preparation workflows
- Knowledge of chromatography techniques and analytical method validation principles
- Ability to interpret complex analytical data and communicate findings clearly
- Strong organisational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Excellent written communication for technical reports and documentation
- Confidence presenting scientific information to diverse audiences
- Collaborative team player with ability to work independently
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 accreditation standards and quality systems
- Experience with GC-MS/MS, HRAM, or anti-doping/supplement testing is advantageous but not essential
