Informed Engineering is an agile and growing SME consultancy delivering high-quality engineering design, digital engineering and project support services across the built environment. We combine technical excellence with a practical, client-focused approach to provide innovative and reliable solutions across highways, drainage, infrastructure and BIM-enabled projects. Our collaborative culture empowers talented engineers to make a real impact, working closely with clients to solve complex challenges, drive digital transformation and deliver projects efficiently from concept through to completion.
We are seeking a number of skilled Engineering Technicians ranging in seniority to support the delivery of high-quality BIM models and digital information across a range of major infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally. You will work closely with Engineers, Designers, Construction Teams and BIM Managers to produce coordinated, compliant models and drawings in line with project and client requirements.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical modelling skills who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and keen to develop their career within a BIM-led environment. An engineering mind is essential, as we are looking for those that look beyond tracing from a marked up drawing; they will look to understand the content that they are producing, and have the confidence to question the integrity, should they feel that things could be done in a different way.
Frequent interaction with multiple team members, both internal and external is expected. We don’t expect you to sit and wait for answers; you will be integral to finding solutions. An appreciation for Project Management, programming and cost will be beneficial to your role and is likely to distinguish between BIM Technician and Senior.

- Support information exchanges at key project stages.
- Ability to forecast task workloads and meet self set deadlines.
- An HNC/HND or degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience as a BIM Technician or similar role within the UK construction industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Bentley Microstation, Openbuilding Designer, and preferably additionally Autodesk Revit, Civil3D / Bentley OpenRoads.

- Understanding of ISO 19650 workflows and model coordination principles, and the importance of proper assurance process and content checking.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, and accommodating junior apprentice’s learning needs.
