Job Description

Taylor & Francis is launching an innovative Commissioning Team to work across our Hybrid Journal Portfolio and we\’re seeking a dynamic Commissioning Editor based in London, UK to join the team.

The Commissioning Editor role is responsible for commissioning and delivering high-quality article submissions within a specific subject area(s)in order to support journal growth and enhance academic reputation. This will be through a combination of direct commissioning and supporting editors and editorial boards with their commissioning activities. Whilst candidates will have specific subject expertise and specialism within one of the following: Medicine & Health; Science & Technology; Social Sciences; Humanities & Arts;candidates will also be adaptable and forward-thinking, ready to respond to evolving publishing landscapes and portfolio needs.

This is an exciting role for someone who: is passionate about academic research and scholarly communication; thrives on connecting with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in academic communities; and enjoys researching literature to identify compelling commissioning opportunities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Commissioning high-quality articles across journal portfolios in accordance with strategies and targets passed on by the Head of Commissioning
  • With input from relevant stakeholders, creates and regularly reviews detailed commissioning plans for journals in their portfolio in order to meet content and development needs of the journals
  • Analyse academic fields to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends.
  • Monitor research developments and market dynamics.
  • Ensure content meets quality standards and development goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Internal and External Stakeholders
  • Support and encourage Editors and Editorial Boards in their commissioning activities.
  • Establish professional presence and build trust withinassigned subject area(s) research communitiesthrough:
    • Active networking
    • Social media engagement
    • Conference attendance
  • Optimize content quality and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant knowledge/experience of the topic area(s) for the role
  • Commissioning experience- generating leads/ideas, identifying key opinion leaders
  • Evidence of involvement in process improvement projects

Location:

The successful candidate will be able to utiliseour balanced working model. We ask that UK based candidates live within acommutable distance of our London Blackfriars office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office location to collaborate as required. There isan expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.
