This role is based in our 240 Blackfriars Office. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to become the Content Protection leader (maternity cover for up to 12 months) at Taylor & Francis, one of the world’s leading publishers of high-quality, cross-disciplinary knowledge and specialty research. Reporting to the General Counsel for Taylor & Francis, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing Taylor & Francis’s global anti-piracy strategy, with a particular focus on the company’s digital supply chains.
Key Accountabilities
- Acting as the content protection lead at Taylor & Francis, responsible for implementing and delivering Taylor & Francis’s global anti-piracy strategy.
- Managing the company’s anti-piracy activities and relationships with external anti-piracy vendors.
- Partnering with the T&F Legal team and other internal stakeholders on enforcement initiatives.
- Leading the centralised reporting and data collation relating to the company’s piracy risks and leveraging data to drive strategy and mitigate risk.
- Collaborating with global stakeholders to audit internal processes for piracy risks, recommending expenditures or implementing practices to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Overseeing global enforcement initiatives on critical anti-piracy issues, working in collaboration with local and regional teams.
- Spotting emerging piracy threats, prioritising risks and identifying targeted solutions to tackle or disrupt those threats.
- Proactively engaging with industry partners and external agencies to coordinate on industry-wide risks.
- Lead and support teams in responding to, investigating, managing and resolving incidents and escalations around content protection and product authenticity.
- Acting as an industry expert in trade body discussions and helping to set standards for the industry.
- Managing a Content Protection Analyst who will support you on the anti-piracy strategy.
- Creating and rolling out best practice content protection workflows for the business.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Solid experience of working in an anti-piracy related role in a content-focused industry, ideally with in-depth experience of piracy in a digital context.
- Robust and demonstrable understanding of the enforcement options available to combat content piracy in different jurisdictions.
- Extensive knowledge of digital content platforms, websites, applications (both lawful and infringing), internet research tools, and search technologies.
- Existing contacts in external anti-piracy bodies and enforcement agencies, and prior experience of implementing an anti-piracy strategy, are desirable but not essential.
- Prior experience in publishing is not essential.

- An ability to act as a leader in promoting the anti-piracy function, and in implementing an anti-piracy programme.
- An approachable personal style and ability to communicate and build support, both internally at all levels in the organisation and across all regions, and externally with trade bodies and enforcement agencies.
- A professional, organised, enthusiastic and self-starting attitude with flexible but robust approach, with the ability to work autonomously and prioritise effectively.
- Practical, commercial thinker able to find pragmatic and creative solutions to commercial problems, balancing business needs with piracy risks.
Location
We believe that great things happen when people connect face-to-face. That’s why we work in-person with each other, or with customers and partners, three days a week or more. The successful candidate will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our offices (240 Blackfriars Road, London or Milton Park, Oxford) to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office locations to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.
