Reporting into the Director of Research Integrity Engagement, Research Integrity Associates (RIAs) act as the first point of call for triaging and supporting on ethics and integrity queries across Taylor & Francis Group books and journals. Working across departments and with different key stakeholders, the RIAs play an important role within the Publishing Ethics and Integrity team in ensuring that tasks related to investigations are handled professionally and efficiently. Due to business growth we are now looking for 2 new Research Integrity Associates to work out of our Milton Park office!
- Key accountabilities:
- Triage, assess and classify queries to the Ethics team inbox, escalating as appropriate;
- Provide advice on publication ethics queries to internal & external stakeholders;
- Working with the Research Integrity managers to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and resources for books ethics investigations;
- Work with the Team Lead, Ethics and Integrity Analyst to develop the management and tracking of books ethics cases;
- Working closely with the Research Integrity Managers, ensuring that all investigations are tracked centrally with a clear audit trail, to input into case reporting;
- Working in accordance with the T&F policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensure that cases are handled professionally, accurately and punctually;
- Work with the Team Lead, Ethics and Integrity Analyst, assess special issue proposals, according to established due diligence protocols;
- Support large scale investigations ensuring these are handled in a consistent and auditable manner;
- Working closely with the Research Integrity Managers (RIMs), identify complex cases for escalation and prepare case summaries as appropriate;
- Handle author name change queries and authorship change requests in accordance with T&F policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), escalating where appropriate;
- Working with the Ethics and Integrity Senior Operations Manager, participate in research integrity tool testing and provide detailed feedback;
- Using tools to detect research integrity and ethics issues (such as iThenticate or ImageTwin) interpret the results to verify concerns raised;
- Where appropriate, draft author correspondence and post-publication correction notices;
- Use knowledge gained from cases to input into discussions around policies and workflows.
- Knowledge and qualifications:
- A degree in STM or HSS, or demonstrated academic background;
- Familiarity with publication ethics and research integrity issues;
- Experience in working with scholarly journals or books;
- Highly proficient in working with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and shared folders.
- Skills & behaviours required:
- Strong attention to detail, and the ability to take an agile approach when needed;
- Curiosity and good problem-solving skills;
- Advanced organisational skills;
- Team player and a self-starter;
- Ability to quickly build a rapport with internal and external stakeholders of all levels;
- Strong communication (written and oral) skills;
- Experience in research integrity issues or submission systems (e.g. ScholarOne, Editorial Manager) would be advantageous.

These roles are based in the UK and you must have the right to work and live in the UK. We believe that great things happen when people connect face-to-face. That's why we work in-person with each other, or with customers and partners, three days a week or more. When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely. The successful candidates will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance to our Milton Park office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office location 3 days per week.
Please note that our Milton Park office will be relocating to Oxford city centre in late 2027 / early 2028, offering an exciting new workplace in the heart of the city.
