A rapidly expanding construction company based in Newry is looking for a Junior Buyer to join their team.
Your core responsibilities will be to prepare accurate quantities and material schedules, sourcing and coordinating the supply of plant and materials required for all projects, managing pricing and trading agreements and quotations to ensure the team delivers on time, meeting tight deadlines.
The Role
- Sending purchase orders to suppliers.
- Correlating bills of quantities, drawings and specifications in order to create tender packages.
- Sending packages to suppliers and receiving quotations.
- Analysing tender packages for the best supplier rates.
- Proactively expanding the current supply chain.
- Communicating with current suppliers and negotiating prices.
- Working closely with quantity surveyors and buyers to maintain optimum levels of communication for the effective and efficient completion of tenders.
- Storing quotations.
- Gathering relevant documents in order to obtain Building Control Certification, which involves liaising with different boroughs to establish what is required.
Requirements
- 1+ years in a Buyer role ideally within the Construction sector.
- Very focused and diligent, high level of attention to detail.
- Highly persistent when dealing with suppliers whilst maintaining positive relationships.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and manage your time to meet deadlines whilst being well organised, resilient and motivated.
- Qualifications in a relevant discipline advantageous.
