Octopus Investments is seeking a Valuations Manager to join its Octopus Ventures team in London. Octopus Ventures is one of the largest venture capital firms in Europe, backing founders across seven core sectors: B2B Software, Bio, Climate, Consumer, Deep Tech, Fintech, and Health. The firm invests from early stage through all growth stages, combining long-term capital with hands-on operational support for founders and their teams.
The Valuations Manager will join a specialist team established in 2022 as an independent function within Octopus Ventures. The team currently consists of four valuation professionals reporting to the Head of OV Valuations. The team is responsible for valuing all portfolio companies and reporting on the performance of Octopus Ventures' funds, working closely with Investment Managers, finance, and operations teams to produce internal reporting, Retail and LP investor reporting, Annual Reports, and other stakeholder materials.
The role involves leading the preparation of portfolio valuations, engaging in the collection and analysis of portfolio company data, contributing to investment track record analysis, and preparing fund performance analysis to inform portfolio management decisions. The Valuations Manager will also contribute to the valuation process and reporting framework, and engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders including investment managers, finance, operations, and senior leadership.
Candidates should have experience in and a passion for valuing private companies, with relevant experience in a valuation, accounting, or investment management context. The ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders is important from the outset. Strong analytical skills, familiarity with private company valuation methodologies, and experience in producing investor-ready reports are expected.
