About the role
As a utility domain SME in the Balancing Transformation programme, you will test and deliver to production new tools that will be deployed in the Electricity National Control Centre (ENCC) to help balance the system. You will be working in a team of experts, engaging with the IT and the business in an Agile delivery environment, to deploy solutions in a state-of-the-art cloud-native IT platform.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Work with the project team and the customer team on the overall product as part of Balancing Transformation programmes
- Support in Quality Assurance to help with testing the product
- Coordinate with different functional teams and Business to review and test scenarios
- Perform exploratory tests and find defects and observations
- Help in the development of requirement tools and automation of testing the algorithm
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a Utility domain background with excellent understanding of transmission and system operations
- Has coding skills in Python
- Has an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and is comfortable with collecting and interpreting data to support end-to-end solution testing
- Has a keen interest in energy systems
- Strong understanding of electricity markets and power system operations
- Has a degree in Engineering in Electrical Engineering
The following are desirable:
- Experience with delivering IT solutions in cloud-native environments
- MSc or PhD in a power system
