Role Overview: The Telesys STP Engineer will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and integration of Telesys Signal Transfer Point (STP) platforms in telecom core network environments, with a strong focus on SS7 signalling, routing optimization, and high availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands on experience in installing, configuring, and commissioning Telesys STP nodes
- Configure point codes, linksets, routes, and Global Title Translation (GTT)
- Configure and manage SS7 signalling links including A links, B links, and C links
- Prepare MOPs and implementation artifacts for software upgrades and changes
- Integrate STP with core network elements such as MSC, HLR, SMSC, IN, and signalling gateways
- Support Legacy SS7 and interworking scenarios based on customer requirements
- Strong working knowledge of the SS7 protocol stack: MTP Level 1/2/3 SCCP (connectionless connection oriented) TCAP (basic operations)
- Handle E.164, E.212, and E.214 numbering plans
- Implement routing logic based on IMSI, MSISDN, and GT patterns
- Analyze and troubleshoot signalling failures using traces and logs
- Perform protocol level debugging including SCCP and TCAP decoding
- Use tools such as Wireshark/tcpdump for signalling analysis
