The Study Engineer is responsible for the technical discovery and design that happens before build and implementation. Understand application, traffic, security, and resilience requirements. Determine whether an existing F5 pattern can be used or whether a bespoke design is required.
Produce design and handover artefacts:
- A key output of the Study Engineer is documentation that enables delivery without ambiguity.
- Approved F5 pattern selection or design alignment.

- Align solutions with security and governance expectations.
- Ensure designs are compatible with the current F5 estate and tooling.
- Validate that what’s being requested is achievable within platform standards.
