About the role
We are seeking a proactive, passionate and committed Team Leader to join our team at InFocus Charity, supporting the delivery of high-quality care to young people with vision impairment and complex needs. As a first-line manager, you will motivate, inspire and support the Residential Care team to perform their roles safely and to the highest standard.
This is a hands‑on role, where you will lead by example and work alongside your team to provide direct care and support to young people. This includes supporting with daily routines, activities, and personal care, ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards are maintained at all times.
During the evenings, our young people enjoy participating in meaningful activities such as swimming and social clubs. They like to get out, explore and socialise, and you will lead and encourage the team to plan and organise engaging leisure and social activities within the community.
Your role will include coordinating day‑to‑day activities, planning staffing, and organising larger events such as holidays, music festivals and celebrations.
We follow an Active Support approach, doing things with people, not for them. Using a person‑centred approach, you will support young people with all aspects of daily life, including developing independence skills, accessing the community, planning activities, and providing personal care in a respectful and dignified way.
As a Team Leader, you will also carry out supervisions, support the onboarding of new employees, and drive continuous improvement within the service.
InFocus will support you every step of the way with a well‑designed induction programme and comprehensive training to ensure you feel confident in your role. You will also receive ongoing support from the Residential Support Manager and Head of Care, alongside opportunities for continued professional development.
About you
We are looking for a confident, compassionate and motivated leader with relevant care experience, who is committed to delivering the highest standards of care and support for young people.
You will be comfortable combining leadership responsibilities with direct, hands‑on care, and confident supporting young people with a range of complex needs, including delivering personal care to people of any gender in a respectful and dignified manner.
You have the ability to lead, develop and support an enabling team, providing clear direction, guidance and encouragement. You take pride in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care and play an active role in shift planning and effective handovers.
You are dedicated to ensuring care is safe, appropriate and tailored to each individual, working in partnership with residents, their families and colleagues. You are confident in deputising for the Manager when required and take ownership of initiatives that enhance care provision.
You are passionate about continuous learning and professional development, supporting improved standards across a multi‑disciplinary team. Above all, you place young people at the heart of everything you do, listening to their wishes, promoting choice and independence, and empowering them to make their own decisions.
Working pattern
