The Role: Influence is looking for an organised, proactive and enthusiastic Marketing Account Manager to support the business with clients across sailing. You will be working across hospitality, event management, PR and communications, social media and content creation. The role has a great balance of working solo and within a supportive team and given the breadth of the position would allow the candidate to understand all aspects of sports marketing, particularly across event and partnership activations. We’re looking for someone with strong experience delivering activations across the sporting world.
Responsibilities:
- Manage our premium sailing accounts – serving as our clients’ day‑to‑day contact, sharing regular updates (meeting notes, agendas, etc.) and ensuring the agency anticipates and responds effectively to client’s needs.
- Lead key projects from inception to conclusion, delivering on time, whilst managing multiple tasks and supporting junior team members.
- Coordinate experiential hospitality and on‑event guest programmes within a client‑facing role – managing all elements, including timelines, logistics, content creation, budgets and reports.
- Work closely with clients, becoming an extension of their in‑house team, as well as working collaboratively with key stakeholders and suppliers in the sailing ecosystems to create seamless activations.
- Support with finance and budgeting, including managing suppliers and expenses.
- Operate our global sailing press office, including developing communication strategies and key messaging, as well as liaising with media globally.
- Conceptualise and draft high‑quality written content, such as press releases and brochures, creating engaging stories on behalf of clients.
- Support with the management of clients’ social media accounts, creating strategies, content calendars and drafting posts.
- Liaise with and manage ambassadors, stakeholders and company staff.
- In‑depth reporting and coverage analysis.
- Represent the agency and clients professionally at events around the world including leading sailing regattas.
- Support Account Directors to deliver above and beyond for sailing and yachting clients.
Requirements:
- Passionate and knowledgeable about sport – particularly sailing and the yachting world.
- Has experience working at a leading global sporting series or in the sailing world.
- Ability to proactively and calmly handle challenges, resolving unforeseen challenges quickly.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment under pressure.
- Well organised and able to meet deadlines.
- Conscientious and proactive with a good understanding of the sporting landscape.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Willing to travel, with flexibility in working hours to accommodate varying schedules and client needs.
- A valid passport is required; a driving licence may be beneficial depending on event locations.
- Strong written and verbal English required for client and media communications; additional languages are an advantage.
