ABOUT US
Transforming lives through excellent education
London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it\’s what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.
ABOUT THE POST
The successful applicant will be an experienced Registered Nurse (Adult) with a passion for developing nursing careers and an established background in teaching across the adult nursing curriculum within university and clinical practice settings. You will ideally be in possession of a higher education teaching award such as the HEA fellowship or similar. You will have a passion for nurse education, and a drive to see our students succeed.
Experience in skills development, module or course leadership is desirable. You will have a good knowledge of the changing landscape of nursing and social care, and the drive toward interprofessional, place-based, and integrated care working.
The work of our team is values driven and explicitly addresses social justice and social inclusion not only through a clear underpinning philosophy but also in the collaborative and participative teaching and learning approach. We intend our work to be transformative in raising student aspirations and enhancing employability through a consistent emphasis on personal, professional and academic development in addition to reflecting current and future trends in the sector. The successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to, and experience of, working aligned with these values.
Working with locally identified needs, our nursing programme has a local, primary, community and social care nursing focus: seeking to promote the visibility of primary, community and social care careers through our innovative simulated placements and clinical nursing placements within the nursing curriculum. We empower our students to work to the scope of their registration on graduation and showcase a full range of nursing career options throughout their student career with us.
We have invested in an ambitious programme for nursing. Our multi-million-pound Simulation and Skills Suite (which was formally opened in January 2024), provides opportunities for clinical simulation in a range of health care settings, from home to hospital. Our community-based simulation spaces and immersive learning technology further support our ambitions. Our nursing programme provision is complemented with a range of allied health professional programmes including dietetics, nutrition, physiotherapy and psychology, as well as biomedical sciences offering opportunities for interprofessional learning, teaching and clinical simulation.
