Safety Engineer – Maritime DefenceAbbey Wood, Bristol – Hybrid, 2–3 days onsite per weekContract – Inside IR35November 26 Start – Initial contract until 31 March 2027 with possible extensionsSC Clearance RequiredInfinity Systems Engineering Ltd are recruiting for an experienced Safety Engineer to support a major UK Defence programme within the Maritime Systems domain.
The successful candidate will work within a specialist Safety Engineering team, providing technical safety advice and supporting the delivery of safe and suitable equipment, systems and services across the acquisition lifecycle.
This is a hybrid role based at MOD Abbey Wood , with onsite attendance expected 2–3 days per week . Some UK travel will also be required, including approximately monthly travel to Rosyth .
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical advice and guidance across Safety Engineering activities.
Support the delivery of Acquisition Safety policy and engineering solutions.
Undertake through-life safety risk management activities.
Support the delivery of safe and suitable equipment, systems and services. Contribute to System Safety Management , governance and assurance activities.
Support safety assurance, audit and compliance activities.
Work collaboratively with engineering and project teams across the wider Defence acquisition environment. Provide professional Safety Engineering input throughout the acquisition and support lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Experience Previous experience delivering successful Safety Engineering, System Safety or Safety Acquisition outcomes.
Strong technical Safety Engineering experience within complex engineering environments.
Experience providing professional technical safety advice to engineering or project teams. A relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or above .Professional registration as EngTech or RSciTech with an appropriate professional body is desirable.
Experience within Defence, Maritime, MOD, DE&S or other safety-critical engineering environments would be highly advantageous.
Security Clearance Candidates must hold current SC Clearance and be able to confirm which organisation currently holds their clearance.
