Salary: £42,000 plus package

  • Is the salary flexible for the right engineer or are they all on the same rate? The rate is fixed; all engineers are paid the same. Senior engineers and Team Leaders are the only ones that earn more.
  • How many hours per week are you contracted for? 40 hours a week, 08:30 – 17:00, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Flexibility and overtime are required.
  • Do they pay travel time, is it door to door? Yes, it is door to door.
  • How often would you be on standby and what is the standby payment? Standby varies from region to region, anywhere from 1 in 5 to 1 in 15. Payment is £175 running Monday to Sunday.
  • What are the overtime rates and is there much available? Overtime is X1.5 after 40 hours, Saturday X1.5, Sunday & Bank Holidays X2. Bank Holidays will get a day in lieu.
  • How many days annual leave? 25 days + Bank Holidays.
  • Is the van available for private use? Yes, just have to opt in and pay private mileage around 12p a mile depending on Government recommendations.
  • How big of an area is covered? Depends on the region; we try to do postcode-orientated areas keeping within 1.5 hours of home. However, business needs may require further travel from time to time.
  • What are the main contracts they will work on? Mainly contract caterers, schools, hospitals, stadiums, FM companies, banks, hotels, MOD sites.
  • All Engineers will require an enhanced DBS clearance.
