Our client based in Spalding are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Fitter to join a growing engineering services business. This is a varied role combining workshop and site-based work, servicing a wide range of industrial equipment including pumps, safety valves, electric motors, and gearboxes. You will be required to work Monday to Thursday: 7:30am β 4:00pm
and Friday: 7:30am β 3:00pm
You will work across multiple industries, including water management, drainage, power generation, and food manufacturing, providing high-quality maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning services.
You should be flexible and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to support urgent customer requirements. This role offers excellent long-term career prospects within a well-established engineering services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, inspect, overhaul, and commission industrial pumps and safety valves.
- Carry out preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and planned inspections.
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs, rebuilds, and installations.
- Work with a variety of pump types, including centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
- Perform electrical fault-finding and basic electrical work associated with pumps, motors, and control systems.
- Complete service reports, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 4) to provide emergency customer support. A mix of workshop and site based work.
Proven experience maintaining, stripping, rebuilding, and repairing industrial pumps and/or safety valves.
Strong mechanical engineering background.
Experience diagnosing faults and rebuilding mechanical assemblies using industry best practices.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter role
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working both in workshop environments and on customer sites.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Time-served mechanical or electrical apprenticeship.
- CCSNG card.
- Confined Space certification.
- Experience within water, drainage, utilities, or power generation sectors.
