This hybrid role combines engineering and development responsibilities to support the lifecycle of OpenTelemetry (OTel) agents and collectors, ensuring robust observability across distributed systems. The position involves managing deployments, troubleshooting, and driving compatibility and integration enhancements.

  • Agent & Collector Management: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain OTel agents and collectors across Linux and Windows environments.
  • Metrics & Logs Handling: Ensure accurate collection, processing, and forwarding of telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces) to observability platforms.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to OTel components, adhering to defined SLAs.
  • Compatibility Analysis: Assess and implement version upgrades, ensuring backward compatibility and feature adoption.
  • API Integration: Develop and maintain integrations between OTel SDKs/APIs and application services.
  • Automation & Best Practices: Implement automation for deployment and configuration using tools like Ansible and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation for processes, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills

  • Core Expertise: Strong knowledge of OpenTelemetry specifications, SDKs, APIs, and instrumentation. Hands-on experience with OTel agent and collector lifecycle.
  • Operating Systems: Linux and Windows administration.
  • Observability Tools: Familiarity with Jaeger, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, ELK, Loki, SigNoz.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in languages like Python, Go, or Java for API integration.
  • Automation: Experience with Ansible, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Additional Skills: Kafka, InfluxDB, container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in observability, monitoring, or related domains.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
