Infinity Employment are seeking a Contract Review Engineer to work on behalf of our industry-leading client, specialising in providing engineering solutions to various sectors. The Contract Review Specialist is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and approving customer contracts, purchase orders, and enquiries to ensure that engineering, quality, commercial, and delivery requirements are clearly defined, understood, and achievable before acceptance.
The role acts as a critical control point between sales, engineering, operations, and quality, ensuring that commitments made to customers are technically feasible, compliant, and aligned with business capability, capacity, and risk appetite. This position requires experience in engineering-focused contract review roles within manufacturing, aerospace, inspection, or technical service environments. This contract will be based in Redditch for a 3-6 month contract. Pay – £25.00p/h – £30.00p/h LTD.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract & Order Review
- Review customer enquiries, purchase orders, contracts, and specifications prior to acceptance.
- Confirm that technical, quality, commercial, and delivery requirements are clearly defined and understood.
- Ensure all requirements are achievable with current capability, capacity, competence, and resources.
- Identify and clarify ambiguities, conflicts, or missing information within customer documentation.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
- Confirm measurement, inspection, manufacturing, or service requirements are technically feasible.
- Liaise with engineering, quality, and technical teams to confirm capability and risk.
- Ensure appropriate standards, tolerances, materials, and acceptance criteria are defined.
- Quality & Compliance Review
- Ensure contracts comply with applicable quality management system requirements (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 17025 where applicable).
- Confirm inspection, test, traceability, documentation, and record retention requirements.
- Identify special requirements, key characteristics, or customer-specific clauses.
- Ensure flow-down of customer and regulatory requirements to operations.
- Commercial & Risk Evaluation
- Review commercial terms including scope, delivery dates, pricing assumptions, and liabilities.
- Identify risks related to scope creep, unclear responsibilities, or unrealistic delivery.
- Support management in defining mitigation actions where risks are identified.
- Escalate high-risk or non-standard contract conditions for approval.
- Communication & Coordination
- Act as the primary point of coordination between sales, engineering, quality, and operations during contract review.
- Raise clarification requests with customers where required.
- Support sales teams by providing clear feedback on feasibility and constraints.
- Ensure agreed changes are communicated and documented prior to contract acceptance.
- Contract Acceptance & Control
- Approve contracts and orders in line with delegated authority.
- Ensure contract review records are completed, approved, and retained.
- Support controlled acceptance of changes to contracts or orders after acceptance.
- Maintain contract review logs and status tracking.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring contract issues and improvement opportunities.
- Support improvements to contract review processes, templates, and checklists.
- Feed lessons learned back into sales, quoting, and operational planning.
- Support internal and external audits related to contract review and order acceptance.
- Authority & Accountability
- Authority to approve or reject contracts within defined limits.
- Authority to raise clarification requests and require resolution before acceptance.
- Accountable for ensuring contracts are technically, commercially, and operationally sound.
- Responsible for accurate and auditable contract review records.
Skills & Competencies
Essential
- Proven experience in a Contract Review, Technical Review, or Commercial Engineering role.
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation (drawings, specifications, standards).
- Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, or technical services environment.
- Strong attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into operational needs.
- Confident communicator with internal teams and customers.
Desirable
- Experience working within ISO-based management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 17025).
- Knowledge of inspection, manufacturing, or engineering service delivery.
- Experience supporting audits or compliance activities.
- Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or order management systems.
