Infinity Employment are currently seeking a skilled Tool Maker for an industry leading specialist, manufacturing precision components for aviation, tooling, automotive, F1 and defence industries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for complex toolmaking projects and making precision tools (such as jigs, moulds and dies), special guides and holding devices, which are then used in the manufacturing process to make products.
Permanent Role
Salary: £17 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duties:
- Assembling, fitting and repairing tools.
- Following engineering drawings to measure and mark out the design for the tool.
- Tooling strip down and diagnosis for repair.
- Using machinery such as lathes, presses, milling machines and grinders to cut and shape the tools.
- Using 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software CAD.
- Implement modifications to moulds.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Escalate any production issues with the Tool Room Supervisor.
- Ensuring high standards of housekeeping, quality and Health & Safety procedures. Always promote a safe working environment.
- Maintaining swarf bins, oil levels and coolants. Hand tools and cutting tools are returned in the appropriate locations.
- Mentoring of the Improver Toolmakers and Toolmaking Apprentices.
- Ensuring lifting equipment is fit for purpose and regularly maintained.

- Precision machining (manual and CNC: milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
- Tooling design and manufacture (jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, gauges)
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings (GD&T, tolerances, surface finishes)
- Metrology & inspection (micrometers, CMMs, optical comparators)
- Material knowledge (tool steels, alloys, heat treatment effects)
- CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam)
