Infinity Employment are recruiting for two experienced Quality & Continuous Improvement Technicians to join a growing manufacturing business based in Bedford. We are looking for one person to work the AM shift and one person to work the PM shift, with flexibility to rotate shifts if required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong manufacturing quality background who enjoys being hands-on on the shop floor, investigating quality issues and working closely with Production and Engineering to improve processes and prevent recurring problems.
The Role:
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality teams, you will be responsible for supporting product quality, process compliance, problem solving and continuous improvement across the manufacturing environment. Your duties will include:
- Carrying out incoming, in-process and final inspections
- Checking products against engineering drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements
- Recording inspection and test results and maintaining accurate quality records
- Managing non-conforming products and materials
- Investigating manufacturing defects and quality issues
- Supporting and leading root-cause investigations
- Using quality tools including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis and FMEA
- Implementing and monitoring corrective and preventative actions
- Working with production teams to reduce recurring defects, scrap, rework and process variation
- Supporting First Article Inspection (FAI/FAIR) and product validation activities
- Supporting Control Plans, SOPs, build instructions and inspection/test plans
- Conducting product, process and layered audits
- Supporting continuous improvement and Right First-Time initiatives
- Contributing to Quality Management System improvements in line with ISO 9001
- Supporting supplier quality investigations where required
What We’re Looking For:
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing quality environment
- Experience investigating product and process quality issues
- Good knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone
- Experience implementing corrective actions
- The ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Experience using inspection and measurement equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A practical, hands-on approach to quality and continuous improvement
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work closely with Production and Engineering teams
Experience within electro-mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, cooling systems, heat exchangers, pipework, welding, brazing, pressure testing or leak testing would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
