Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Fabric Engineer to join a busy facilities and building services environment.

The role will involve carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and repairs across mechanical, electrical and general building fabric systems.

You will be responsible for maintaining high engineering standards, responding to faults and call-outs, and helping ensure plant and building services remain safe, reliable and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the site.
  • Undertake fault finding, testing and repairs on electrical building services equipment.
  • Complete general non-specialist building fabric maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Inspect the condition of building services and proactively identify repairs or maintenance requirements.
  • Complete and update PPM tasks using the site computerised maintenance system.
  • Maintain engineering standards to maximise plant and system reliability and operational effectiveness.
  • Work safely within plant rooms and at height using appropriate platforms and ladders.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site procedures, quality standards and health & safety requirements.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider engineering team and provide support where required.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC, electrical or building services engineering, with practical experience carrying out maintenance and fault finding.

Relevant qualifications and experience include

  • Previous HVAC and building services engineering experience
  • Good practical knowledge of building services systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Building Management Systems
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

About You

You will be a self-motivated and practical engineer who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider facilities team.

You should have a logical approach to fault finding, good customer service skills and the ability to identify reactive maintenance requirements without constant supervision.

A flexible approach is important, along with a willingness to support colleagues and respond to changing operational requirements.
