Based in Abingdon, Oxford, UK, we are a high calibre team of 100 plus people and we are growing fast. We are backed by global financial and industry investors including Applied Ventures, the strategic venture arm of the industry leading equipment company.
About the role:
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you are building and owning the financial planning and analysis function from the ground up. You are partnering closely with the CFO while working across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, and HR teams. You are not waiting for data, you are actively shaping it, challenging it, and turning it into clear, decision-ready insight.
No two days are the same, a typical month as Head of FP&A could look like this:
- Owning and delivering monthly forecasts, clearly linking risks to cash runway and business outcomes
- Building and maintaining driver-based financial models across headcount, revenue, supply chain, and capital projects
- Owning revenue forecasting, creating a pipeline-backed view the board can rely on
- Partnering with commercial teams on pricing and deal structure, making cash implications visible upfront
- Working with engineering and manufacturing teams on project costs and capital planning
- Promoting visibility in supply chain commitments and cash flow impacts
- Partnering with colleagues across the globe as the company continues its international expansion
- Producing board-quality financial materials and supporting investor-facing outputs
- Translating management accounts into forward-looking insight — what happened, why it matters, and what’s next
- Implementing KPI-driven reporting that tells the story of the business, not just the numbers
Who we are looking for:
To succeed as a Head of FP&A, we do need you to have demonstrable experience of working in environments where processes are being built, not inherited. Candidates from a scale-up background would be ideal. We are also looking for:
- Accountancy Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong FP&A experience
- Building and owning financial models in complex business environments
- Partnering effectively with non-finance stakeholders, influencing engineers, scientists, and commercial teams
- Operating with autonomy, making judgement calls and owning outputs
- Communicating financial insights clearly and concisely
Nice to have:
- Supporting a fundraise or building investor-facing financial models
- Familiarity with manufacturing or supply chain finance
- Experience in investor-backed businesses and understanding investor expectations
- Commercial finance within long sales cycles or capital equipment environments
Education / Qualifications:
Either a relevant finance qualification or equivalent experience gained through a clear professional pathway.
