About the role:
A typical day for an Electronics Manager could look like this:
- Leading the electronics team by coaching, mentoring, and developing people through regular feedback and reviews
- Providing technical leadership to ensure high-quality, reliable electronics design and delivery
- Working closely with senior leaders to shape and evolve the company’s electronics strategy and tooling
- Championing continuous improvement across products, processes, tools, and team capability
- Collaborating with system architects and project leads to support successful project delivery
- Contributing hands-on to electronics testing and investigation when required
- Overseeing electronics integration with mechanics, optics, and controls teams
- Leading or contributing to cross-functional steering groups
Who we are looking for:
To succeed as an Electronics Manager, we do need you to have the following skills and experience:
- Electronics design best practice with a collegiate manner to practical application
- Significant people-management and industry experience as an electronics or electrical engineer in a hardware design and laboratory arena
- PCB design, power supply characterisation, low noise amplifier design/selection and signal integrity
- Confidence with analogue electronics for signal capture and conditioning
- ADC and DAC electronics for signal generation and capture
- Power delivery and grounding best practices for sensitive complex equipment
- Experience conducting and interpreting electronics testing
- Accomplished with product lifecycle management (requirements reviewing, design reviews, engineering change, revision management, etc.)
- Comfortable in a cross-functional matrix organisation
- PCB Design and simulation tools
Nice to have:
- Engaging with external partners and suppliers as part of delivery
- Confidence with environmental considerations relevant to electronics (thermal management, vibration sensitivity, EMC)
- Supporting operations with first article builds and quality inspections
- Interpreting frequency domain and phase response data
- Knowledge of Piezo actuator drive systems and their requirements
- Understanding of scanner or precision positioning systems
- Project management JIRA or similar tool-tracking software
Education / Qualifications:
Either a CEng in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or similar, or a clear equivalent path through relevant apprenticeship or accumulated experience.
