This is an entry-level opportunity for a college student or graduate who is interested in renewable energy, geography or the environment, planning, land, or infrastructure projects. You don't need work experience in this area. We provide complete training, support, and mentoring. You will join our Development Team and learn how renewable energy projects are planned, designed and approved before they are built. Over time, this role can lead to a Development Manager career in the renewables sector.
What you will be learning and involved with:
- Land Acquisition: Assist with negotiating and securing land agreements.
- Planning & Environmental: Support the preparation and submission of planning applications.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, contractors, local authorities, and communities.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues across the business to leverage expertise and ensure robust project assessments and designs.
- Data collation and analysis: Collecting and analysing various forms of project data, creating accurate reports using MS Excel to share with internal teams.
- Produce drawings and documents: Using GIS, CAD, and other software to produce plans and drawings that support the development process.
- Community Engagement: Helping to organise and attend community engagement events.
About You:
We are looking for someone genuinely interested in renewable energy and sustainability who enjoys geography and environmental studies. Someone who is organised, wants to learn, and likes working both independently and as part of a team. You will need to be confident in communicating with different people and want a long-term career that offers progression. This is an entry-level role; complete training will be given. No experience is required.
What you will need is:
- An astute analytical mindset with strong critical thinking skills.
- The ability to multitask.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a specialist team, developing and utilising excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- An ability to show initiative and find solutions to problems, working with the team to overcome obstacles and achieve project milestones.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of CAD and/or GIS software, would be an advantage.
- A full UK driving license and a willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
- The 'Right to Work' in the UK without sponsorship in the future.
- You must live within a one-hour commute of our Northampton Head Office, where you will be required to work 3 days a week.
