Infinis is the UK’s leading renewable energy generator of low‑carbon power from captured methane. We convert methane gas from landfill sites and disused mines into electricity. Our sustainable energy expertise extends to solar farms and battery energy storage (BESS) technology. This work helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to climate change and provides secure, efficient local power generation. Infinis is supporting the energy transition to net zero. We are committed to innovation, environmental responsibility, and safe and efficient local energy solutions. If you’re passionate about engineering, sustainability, and power generation, this is your opportunity to thrive in a forward‑thinking company. With the demand for renewables set to rise, the energy industry is a great place to build your career.
About the role
We extract methane gas from landfill sites in a controlled manner by applying suction through a network of installed pipelines and gas wells, thereby preventing its release into the atmosphere. You will perform routine operational and environmental compliance by monitoring the gas and leachate levels, adjusting the gas flow levels from wells and sample points, and entering all data and completing reports onto internal systems to help deliver budgeted volumes of CLM to the compound, where the gas will be converted into electricity, which we sell to the national grid. This will also involve performing preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors, pneumatic pumps, and other equipment to ensure they are functioning optimally. Working in a collaborative, safety‑first environment, you’ll contribute to operational excellence and innovation. Ideally, you’ll bring experience in power generation or industrial maintenance and demonstrate strong fault‑finding skills and a proactive approach.
Location: This role will primarily serve sites in the Warwickshire and Leicestershire area, but occasionally travel to all sites based within the South West Region is required. This is a Monday–Friday shift with a 1 in 4 week out‑of‑hours rota, for which you are paid.
Key responsibilities
- Adhere to HSQE regulations, report incidents, and take proactive measures to prevent accidents or compliance breaches
- Monitor and adjust the gas flow from wells to assess the suction, pressure and quality of the gas on site, manage results reporting, and address non‑conformances
- Monitor the gas infrastructure to identify early warning signs of operational problems or potential breakdowns, reporting all findings on Maximo
- Conduct environmental monitoring and sampling according to schedules
- Perform hands‑on site inspections and sample collection to verify compliance with permit conditions, legislation, and company procedures
- Perform maintenance tasks on the gas wells and gas infrastructure using hand tools
- Replace and connect pipework and sample points, and adjust valve positioning
- Identify and act on early warning signs of operational issues or potential breakdowns, collaborating with the team to implement preventive solutions
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain field equipment; ensure accurate data collection and analysis
- Audit the effectiveness of the gas control system within the field and formally report all findings
About you
- Qualified in an environmental, relevant science or engineering subject
- Safety‑conscious with a proactive approach to health and safety
- Experienced with data collection, sampling and monitoring techniques
- Be proactive, take ownership of issues, and work with others to solve them
- Be happy to work outdoors in all conditions and travel between regional sites
- Full UK manual driving license, preferably with field‑based experience
What we offer
- Competitive salary with up to 15% bonus, paid quarterly and annually
- Company van & fuel card, plus tools, uniform, laptop, and mobile phone
- Domestic solar, battery, and EV charger funding scheme
- Employee Assistance Program that offers virtual GP appointments and eye care vouchers
