Role Purpose
Infinigate Group are seeking a highly skilled, automation-driven IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure team on a 6-month fixed-term contract providing maternity cover. This role is ideal for someone with confident expertise across the Microsoft ecosystem including M365, Windows Server, Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL, and Azure and proven experience operating within and maturing an ITIL-aligned environment. You’ll play a key role in driving reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our core platforms.
We are pleased to offer this position as a hybrid opportunity based from any of our UK office bases (London, Woking, South Cerney or Fareham). We are seeking a candidate with immediate or within 4 weeks’ notice period due to the cover responsibilities of the role.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Hyper-V virtualization platforms with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
- Manage and optimise Azure cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS, and standard resources as well as M365.
- Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring performance, availability and security.
- Have an ‘automate first’ approach to all activities and champion improvements with services, practices within the team and general attitude to delivering an effective and quality service to our customers.
- Collaborate with governance and security teams to ensure alignment with ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
- Monitor hybrid workloads and proactively optimise performance, cost, and reliability.
- Be proactive and seek improvements in all services within the environment.
- Contribute to 3rd line IT Support activities to support the IT Service Desk team.
- Strong focus on value delivered versus demand, and customer-centric approach.
- Must be a strong team player who works well with others, contributes ideas, and proactively supports team success.
General Skills
- Highly motivated and strong desire to continuously learn and develop.
- Able to operate in a typical Microsoft environment.
- Manage, secure, and optimise Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-prem and cloud environments to best practices. Ensure high availability, performance tuning, and reliable backup/restore operations.
- Experience with M365 and core services.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Azure, especially Landing Zones, RBAC, Networking, and Security.
- Awareness of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
- Advanced scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Git, Terraform, Bicep).
- Experience in operating and maturing an ITIL-aligned infrastructure environment.

£50,000 to £60,000 per annum (pro rata for 6 month contract)
