We are seeking a skilled and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to work with one of our clients in Harrow. The successful candidate will play a key role in carrying out Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments and ensuring individuals receive appropriate, timely, and person-centred care. This is a flexible, call-based role offering competitive rates of £80 per call or £110 per assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking Mental Health Act assessments in line with current legislation
- Coordinating with doctors, social workers, and other professionals during assessments
- Making informed decisions regarding detention, admission, or alternative support pathways
- Ensuring the least restrictive options are always considered
- Providing clear, accurate, and timely documentation of all assessments and outcomes
- Liaising with service users, families, and carers in a sensitive and professional manner
- Ensuring compliance with legal frameworks, policies, and best practice guidelines
Requirements:
- Qualified and warranted Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
- Active professional registration (e.g., Social Work England, NMC, HCPC)
- Proven experience undertaking Mental Health Act assessments
- Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures
- Excellent risk assessment and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively in high-pressure situations
